Rib Repositioning in St. Louis, MO

Many women desire a thinner waist to help them achieve a desirable hour-glass shape. However, a woman’s biological make-up (specifically her bone structure) can get in the way and keep her from achieving her aesthetic goals. While some women have resorted to removing ribs from their body, rib repositioning is a better and safer alternative.

Rib repositioning is a minimally invasive procedure that helps women achieve the feminine physique they desire while improving their confidence in their appearance.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Porshinsky is proud to offer rib repositioning to his patients in St. Louis, Missouri.

What Is Rib Repositioning?

As the name suggests, rib repositioning is a procedure in which the bottom two floating ribs are manipulated and repositioned to help women achieve a more defined and contoured waistline.

Rib repositioning is an alternative to rib removal, which is a much more invasive and painful procedure. With rib repositioning, you can achieve natural-looking results without affecting your posture or having a long and unsightly scar.

Why Should I Choose Dr. Porshinsky for My Rib Repositioning Procedure?

What Are the Benefits of Rib Repositioning?

Rib repositioning is a safe and minimally invasive procedure that creates a more defined and attractive waistline for adult women of all ages.

With rib repositioning, patients can achieve:

  • Natural-looking results
  • An hourglass figure
  • An enhanced appearance to their natural curves
  • Improved comfort in clothing
  • Improved confidence

Am I a Candidate for Rib Repositioning?

No amount of diet or exercise can change your bone structure. This means that you may not be able to achieve the contoured midsection you desire through natural means alone. Instead, rib repositioning can successfully help you achieve the physique you’ve always wanted.

Ideal candidates for a rib repositioning procedure are non-smoking women who are in good general health and have realistic expectations for their results. Additionally, patients should be at or near their goal weight, with a BMI of 28 or less.

At your consultation, Dr. Porshinsky will evaluate your condition to determine your candidacy for this procedure.

How Is Rib Repositioning Performed?

Rib repositioning is performed under general anesthesia to ensure that you do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Once the anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Porshinsky will make two small incisions in your back. Through these incisions, he will make a small cut into the two lower floating ribs. This allows him to reposition the ribs so that they are narrower, which creates a thinner midsection.

Once the ribs are moved into their new position, Dr. Porshinsky will close the incisions, and you will be ready to begin your recovery.

This procedure generally takes about 45 minutes to complete.

What Other Procedures Can Be Combined With Rib Repositioning?

While many women choose to undergo rib repositioning as a standalone procedure, other women choose to maximize their results by combining it with a Brazilian Butt Lift (utilizing liposuction) and tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) to enhance their hourglass shape further.

By combining procedures, you can achieve more dramatic and dynamic results.

How Long Is Rib Repositioning Recovery?

Because rib repositioning is less invasive than rib removal, you can expect to have less recovery, downtime, and pain.

After your procedure, you will likely experience some discomfort and bruising. It is important that you follow all post-op instructions, which includes taking any medications and wearing your corset compression garment (waist trainer). This compression garment must be worn for at least two months after your procedure to ensure proper healing and best results. Additionally, you will need to refrain from any strenuous physical activity for six to 10 weeks.

Most patients are able to return to work after two weeks.

When Will I See My Rib Repositioning Results?

While you will have improvement to the structure of your waist immediately after your procedure, including a more trimmed and contoured appearance, your results will likely be hidden by the compression garment. Most patients do not see their final results until two months after their surgery.

Once your results are finalized, you can look forward to showing off that hour-glass waist you’ve always wanted, which can help you feel more confident and comfortable.
