Dr. Porshinsky’s Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery Tips in St. Louis, MO

Some patients who undergo plastic surgery believe their process is over as soon as they leave the surgery center; however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Plastic surgery recovery is essential to the success and safety of your procedure.

This is especially true with the Brazilian Butt Lift.

Why Should I Choose Highly Experienced Brazilian Butt Lift Surgeon Dr. Brian Porshinsky for My BBL?

Dr. Brian Porshinsky is a board-certified plastic surgeon who spent 2022 learning the most advanced and safest Brazilian Butt Lift techniques in Miami. He has performed hundreds and hundreds of Brazilian Butt Lift surgeries with a 100% safety record.

Dr. Porshinsky focuses on achieving the volume that women want with their BBLs. He uses lipo 360 to remove a large volume of fat from the circumference of the torso, including the abdomen, waist, and back. This fat is injected into the buttocks, hips, and lateral thighs.

What Can You Expect During Your Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery?

Brazilian Butt Lift surgery uses liposuction (lipo 360) to harvest large amounts of fat from your abdomen, waist, and back that is then injected into the buttocks, hips, and lateral thighs. This process narrows the waist and creates smooth, shapely curves in the hips and buttocks.

The Challenge With Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery

The success of your BBL relies on how well the grafted fat cells survive.

As with all fat grafting procedures, we anticipate that you will lose some of the transferred fat cells. It is estimated that you can potentially lose up to 15 to 30% of the injected volume.

While Dr. Porshinsky combats this by injecting a higher fat volume initially, it is still up to you to do your part and help your body maintain these transferred cells. The best way to do this is to avoid placing pressure on the buttocks.

This can be challenging since most people sit for long periods throughout the day (at work, when driving, and relaxing at home). Because of this, changes in your regular routines must be made.

We want to ensure proper blood flow to the new cells, so you must avoid sitting as much as possible initially and through the first two to three months of your recovery.

To help with this, we suggest sleeping and resting on your stomach as much as possible. Also, we recommend that you invest in a Brazilian Butt Lift recovery booty pillow that will support you without applying pressure to the newly grafted fat.

Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery Week by Week

We recommend you follow all of Dr. Porshinsky’s post-operative instructions to help ensure a safe recovery and optimal results.

Immediately After Your BBL

The Brazilian Butt Lift is an outpatient procedure, and you can return home shortly after the anesthesia wears off.

You can expect to experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort in both the donor and injection sites. We recommend getting plenty of rest the night of your surgery and not pushing your body to do too much.

Week 1

During the first days of your recovery, you can expect discomfort in the liposuction sites. Keeping these areas (and incisions) clean helps prevent any chance of infection. You will be instructed on how to care for these incisions.

Prescription or over-the-counter pain medication can be taken to alleviate any discomfort.

While you do not want to participate in any strenuous activity, we suggest getting up and walking regularly. This promotes blood circulation, which helps prevent blood clots and speeds up your recovery.

You will want to remain off your buttocks and back as much as possible during this time.

Week 2

Most patients can return to work and most regular activities after two weeks as long as they do not have to sit for long periods.

You will still need to avoid sitting or lying on your back for extended periods.

Weeks 3-5

You can start returning to your normal activities gradually. Like all plastic surgery recoveries, you will need to listen to your body and not push yourself too much too soon.

You can start sitting for more extended periods; however, it is still beneficial to use a pillow.

Week 6 and Beyond

Most patients are cleared to resume most —if not all — activities and vigorous exercise and can resume sitting and sleeping on their backs.

By this time, all fat that remains should be there permanently.

Maintaining Your Results

Because the buttocks, hips, and thighs will have a greater number of fat cells following this process, it is important to maintain a stable weight. Any weight fluctuations (up or down) will be apparent in these areas.
